Reading Log Questions on The Good Lord Bird
- The meaning of Good Lord Bird is the lord. The bird is the followers of the lord and that good lord bird is someone special following the lord. It represents the Great Ruler also known as Lord. It connects to the title of the book because the main character named John Brown is a religious man ( McBride 25).
- Henry's nickname is Onion. He earned this nickname because of him listening to Jesus Christ (McBride 25).
- Henry's rationale to continuing to live a lie was that one day, the people are going to find out eventually that Henry is a girl, not a boy. Yes, it was justifiable because he wanted to live the life the way he wants. He believes in God and he also said that " But everybody under God's sun, man or woman, white or colored, got to go to the toilet, and I really did have to answer nature's call" (McBride 30).
- Some of the specific way that the writer uses detail to support his answer is by being personal and letting the readers know the settings and how it could improve and the lifestyle there was during this time (McBride 29).
- The quotes relate to the writer's answer by having dialogues with the other people and by talking with John Brown. For example, "I got to toilet, but a girl needs a bit of privacy." (McBride 30).
- The writer could elaborate differently by having more dialogues and have more personal stories that tells the reader more about the time period.
- I was very engaged with the graphics that the writer used to enhance his blog and the answers. I was engaged because it made the readers realized how that certain time period was and what it looked like.
